Thought I'd pass along this little piece of intel that may help you with your search for the elusive "best deal" for gas in your area.

This is a neat tool that seems to be updated around the country. Try it out! Here's a screenshot:

You get a map with all the local stations, a cute price-range graphic, then the details on each station wiht the current prices. You'll note the dates at the bottom - 7/22/08 - right up-to-date.
Play with it and tell me what you think! Just trying to help you win the war against high fuel costs...

I have solved the gas price problem. I'm staying home. Wait, I have to go to the post office and bank and grocery store. I'll get gas on the way.
When you drive a Sequoia that gets blocks to the gallon, it doesn't pay to look for less expensive gasoline. It pays to get it on the way. Thankfully, the lowest price gasoline in my neighborhood is on the way to the grocery store.
I'm also driving 5 mph under the speed limit, no doubt to the ire of the folks behind me. I just pull over and let them speed by, all way over the speed limit. No one who drives like a maniac careening down the road should complain about the cost of gasoline.
Interesting times.
Hi Jeff, I read your post last night and saved the link and intended to leave you a note. I see that Lenn was by and makes a great post. I have started to drive 60 on the 65 speed limits. I am saving some fuel but more importantly like Lenn, setting the right example for other to follow. Why that haven't mandated this as yet is a real wonder. I saved the link on del.icio.us so I locate it again and share with others, Many Thanks Jeff.
Hi guys - I hate to burst the bubble but I was just listening to the radio and they were saying that newer cars may get better mileage at higher speeds! It was about the introduction of a 55 mph bill in Congress. Don't know if it's true or not...
My solution to solve my gas price issue is to invest in oil companies in large part in canada because they gather oil directly from the oil sands on their own soil and henceforrth, the higher gas prices in the United States, the higher the value of my stocks. In other words take advantage of this while you can.
I too have heard and know that certain cars such as Honda's receive a better mile/gallon when going at speeds above 55. This was also the case with older cars.
How about this Jeff?

It was nice talking to you in church yesterday Jeff. I look forward to conversating with you via this blog. Now if only they could improve the look of these concept bio-fuel cars. Perhaps improve it to look like a stingray.
Sanjay - you're alive! I like the post about the aircars. Extremely cool - but they don't look very big...
Everard, we're not giving you a license to speed...just in case you were contemplating that.
Jeff
I see that gas prices are starting to come down a little. Do you think we will ever see the days of sub $3.00/gallon or is that a pipe dream?
Considering i'm a corvette enthusiast, yes i was. According to some financial seminars i've attended this summer, supply still exceeds demand globally but the margin is thin enough to keep these prices high as accidents and natural disasters continue to keep the market influx. I think it can be assumed that gas prices will stay above $3.00 for the rest of the year and perhaps peak again closer to the holidays.
